Motorists celebrate the opening of long-awaited project connecting Cypress to The Woodlands
Zachry-Odebrecht proudly announces Grand Parkway Segments F-1 and F-2 have opened to the traveling public as of Friday, February 5. The 24 miles of new roadway span from US 290 to I-45 and include SH-99 eastbound to I-45 northbound and I-45 southbound to SH-99 westbound direct connectors. TxDOT will be providing free tolling through Monday, February 15, 2016. Thereafter, motorists can utilize a TxTAG or EZTAG to travel the managed lanes.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) approved the award of the State Highway 99 Grand Parkway project segments F1, F2 and G, to Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders in 2013. The project consists of more than 120 bridges, intermittent frontage roads and associated drainage, as well as a complex utility infrastructure.
The Zachry-Odebrecht team challenged its design and construction members to develop a design and project approach that was innovative and tailored to meet TxDOT's specifications, as well as address congestion in highly populated areas. The result was a value-added concept that brought solutions and cost reduction through the implementation of alternative technical concepts. Zachry-Odebrecht created more than 2,800 direct local jobs, not including work extended through sub-contractors. It is estimated to date 8.8 million man hours have contributed to the success and completion of the project.
Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders is a fully integrated design-build joint venture that assembled a team with deep engineering and construction resources, significant local knowledge and experience, and complex transportation project experience to build the Grand Parkway, Segments F-1, F-2, and G.
