Corporate Business Diversity and Compliance
Ms. Rita Phillip is the Corporate Business Diversity and Development Officer for Zachry Construction Corporation. Ms. Phillip joined Zachry Construction Corporation in 2001 and is responsible for managing Zachry’s corporate and national business and diversity programs. She additionally oversees the small business training programs and community involvement. As an advocate for the inclusion of small business, small disadvantaged business, women-owned small business, HUB Zone small business, veteran-owned small business, and service-disabled small business in construction, architecture, and engineering, Ms. Phillip is responsible for leading the company’s efforts to increase opportunities and utilization with diverse businesses to participate in the competitive contracting and procurement processes.
Ms. Phillip has championed industry specific educational training programs to assist small businesses with successfully growing their business Her program was recognized by the Governor of Texas in 2010 with a proclamation. In particular, this recognition extended to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the development of an educational and training program in the construction industry for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) to participate. In addition to her role with Zachry Construction Corporation, Ms. Phillip serves on numerous boards and is an active member of several chambers, contractor associations and other organizations that support diverse businesses.
Ms. Phillip’s passion and commitment to working with and advocating for diverse businesses has been widely recognized. She was most recently recognized by the National Diversity Council with a Diversity First Award. She was also recognized by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), San Antonio chapter as one of San Antonio’s “Most Influential Female Leaders” and was featured in the 2014 edition of “Who’s Who San Antonio - Women of Distinction.”
