Briscoe Western Art Museum
San Antonio, TX
National Western Arts Foundation
June 2012 - August 2012
The former Hertzberg Circus Museum is now home of the Dolph and Janey Brisco Western Art Museum. The 58,000 square foot complex houses contemporary and indigenous artists’ work evocative of the state’s pioneering spirit and early development.
This three phase construction project refurbished the four-story, circa 1930’s structure with new construction of a 20,000 square foot three-story annex building accommodating
a 777 person capacity meeting area, creating an outdoor sculpture garden with lush landscaping and new cascading waterfalls flowing to the San Antonio River Walk.
Structural improvements included adding interior structural steel columns, roof support beams and platforms above the roof where new chiller plants and air handler equipment rest, and installing fiber reinforcement to increase the shear strength of the existing
concrete roof beams.
There are unique high-end finishes, detailed interior and exterior historic restorations, advanced mechanical, electrical and security systems with the capability to control from remote locations via web access.
