Overview

The Embassy Suites San Antonio River Walk Hotel is set on the banks of the San Antonio River in the vibrant heart of San Antonio, Texas. This project is the design-build of a 16 story, 365,000 SF, 285-room hotel. Each guest room is a spacious apartment-style suite complete with a kitchenette. The building features a limestone façade on the first two levels with the remaining 14 upper floors veneered with stucco-like material. The project also included a two-story below-ground parking garage requiring special dewatering systems and protection of the River walk structure.

Floors one, two and the outdoor lounge on floor three can access the River Walk through a dedicated elevator.  An elaborate exterior water feature is connected to the San Antonio River through three openings in the existing historic Hugman wall.

The hotel occupies the majority of the property with city streets on three sides and a river on the fourth leaving no room for storing materials.  This tight space made scheduling a vital skill.

Just-in-time (JIT) inventory management system was used to get materials to the jobsite exactly when needed.  This project was also the winner of the 2010 National FIATECH CETI (The Celebration of Engineering & Technology Innovation) Award for the 123 Punch System which kept all project stakeholders informed through their own electronic devices real time.
