Bridges to

We believe giving back to the communities where we live and work is just as important as the work we do. Every month, year in and year out, Zachry employees and their families go out to lend a helping hand to those who need it most — because Every Person Matters®.

Bridges to Prosperity

Bridges to prosperity

Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) has built more than 250 footbridges in 22 countries.

In the United States, it's easy to take bridges for granted and underestimate their importance. But that would never happen in rural Uganda, where bridges regulary save lives. In fact, about three children lose their lives every year trying to cross hazardous ravines and rivers in the Kapchorwa region of Uganda. Nonprofit organization Bridges to Prosperity has a powerful mission to end poverty due to rural isolation.

Zachry partnered with B2P and selected 20 eager employees to travel to eastern Uganda to build two brand-new suspension footbridges across ravines.  Building two bridges at the same time was a first for B2P in this region of Uganda.

Two teams of 10 arrived in Uganda on Feb. 29, 2020 and wrapped up both bridges on March 15, 2020.

Both teams hiked from a local town to each bridge location, worked during the day, then hike out of hte canyon to the villages and interact with the children, playing soccer or taking pictures.
