New Portion of the Grand Parkway Announced, Construction Continues on Other Portions

A little more than 15 months from now, drivers will have quicker drive times to The Woodlands and Spring area as well as Highway 290 as more portions of the Grand Parkway are expected to open.

The Grand Parkway segments being constructed by Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders include F-1, stretching from Highway 290 to Hwy. 249; F-2 which is from Hwy. 249 to Interstate 45 and G from I-45 to Hwy. 59; all of which are expected to be completed by late 2015.

“The whole west and north portions of the Houston area will be covered by the Grand Parkway,” David Gornet of the Grand Parkway Association explained at Greater East Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Oct. 1. “To complete the sections that will connect the New Caney and surrounding communities with Katy, The Woodlands and others; ZOPB has put in 120 different bridges which totals to almost 4.3 million square-feet of bridge-decking.”

Additionally, the Grand Parkway Association sent out Requests for Qualifications for companies in the area to start the planning process to continue the Grand Parkway from Hwy. 59 to I-10 on the east side of town which means it will run through portions of the area near Lake Houston Wilderness Park, Dayton and Mont Belvieu before connecting back with the other portion of the Grand Parkway at I-10.
