EASTLAND COUNTY, TX

I-20 RANGER HILL ROAD

Overview

Zachry was awarded the Eastland County Interstate Highway 20 (Ranger Road) project fromt the Texas Department of Transportation to realign existing roadway including grading, pavement, drainage, signage and road illumination. The project location is IH 20 from approximately 3.5 miles east of LP 254 to 0.5 miles east of State Highway 16. The project removes a rock hill that has caused numerous traffic accidents. The hill will be cut down to 65 foot to improve driver safety. The project has more than 1.2 million yards of embank material, large yellow iron equipment that includes D10’s, 374 excavators and portable crushers and more than 95,000 yards of paving.

Crews built a new 12-foot wide westbound climbing or passing lane. The stretch of highway has three westbound uphill main lanes to allow large trucks to use the outside lane for climbing without impeding smaller vehicles traveling at higher speeds. Two 12-foot wide eastbound downhill main lanes were provided along with space for future expansion to three lanes.
