Overview

The Lane City Dam Hurricane Harvey Rehabilitation and Recovery Project is restoring and strengthening the dam and its surrounding banks to improve long-term resilience following damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. Zachry’s work includes installing new sheet piling and grout bags along the west bank and existing dam, modifying and extending sheet piling on the east bank, and stabilizing eroded slopes with excavation, rock riprap, and other protective measures.

The project also includes replacement of the gate hydraulic cylinder and construction of a new control building with upgraded electrical systems. To support construction across the site, Zachry constructed a temporary trestle bridge for access while coordinating excavation, slope stabilization, sheet piling, waler connections, and structural improvements.

Scheduled for completion in December 2026, the project will provide a more resilient and reliable dam system while protecting critical infrastructure along the Colorado River.
