I-10 - GRAYTOWN TO BEXAR COUNTY LINE

BEXAR COUNTY, TX

I-10 - GRAYTOWN TO BEXAR COUNTY LINE

Overview

The project widens five miles of Interstate Highway 10 on the east side of San Antonio, Texas from Graytown Road to the Bexar/Guadalupe County Line at Cibolo Creek. The job is part of Texas Department of Transportation's  larger effort that includes five separate projects to improve the heavily traveled I-10 corridor between San Antonio and Houston. As the east side grows rapidly, the tens of thousands of drivers who travel this corridor every day will benefit from the upgraded capacity and safety standards, with minimal inconvenience in the meantime.

Work consisted of placing low-profile barriers to protect Zachry Underground & Utility Services, one of the subcontractors, as they installed new utility conduits, converting the old two-way frontage roads to one-way operations, and concrete paving to widen the highway to three lanes in each direction, while keeping I-10 traffic moving.
